About us

The Gospel Choir HIM (Hearts In Motion) consists of 20 singers between he age of 20 to 30 years.

It all started during the summer of 2000, with a group of friends from the same college who wanted to continue to sing with each other and to sing - gospel!

When Øystein Lund Olafsen started as the musical director, things started to happen very fast.

The original group of HIM got other friends and keen singers to join them, and they quickly grew to a group of 45 members!

Øystein Lund Olafsen is both conducting and arranging and has added his personal touch to HIM. The repertoar is steady growing, influenced by Olafsens's vast CD collection. HIM has enjoyed working with guest conductors from Nashville, USA. They have been a source of great inspiration even thought the choir feels they have a long way to go to match the standard of the true, genuine gospel choirs.

The main focus for HIM is to get across what they are singing about. That is why they always experience a greate feeling when they give a concert. Even though they have the highest ambitions music wise, they never forget the main reason for singing this kind of music, it is in a way their own kind of service.

HIM are grateful and humble for the inspiration and joy this is giving to them all.

HIM has appeared several times on national TV and had the honour of opening the Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2003 with the well-known Norwegian singer Jan Werner and Krinkastingsorkesteret (The Norwegian broadcasting orchestra). HIM has on several occasions collaborated with other of Norway's finest singers, the very talented Sissel Kyrkjebø being one of them. They were used on Jan Wener's latest album "Singer of Songs" which was released in December 2003 and has sold over 100 000 copies, which is a lot in Norway!

HIM invites you to experience some of their gospel with them...
